Navštívili jsme vodárnu Batiment des Forces Motrices (BFM), která leží v centru Ženevy na řece Rhone a v roce 1997 byla přestavěna na divadlo. Původní vodárna byla inaugurována v roce 1896 za účelem využití vodního zdroje k výrobě elektřiny a k dodávkám pitné vody pro město a okolí. Na svou dobu to byl celkem odvážný projekt. V předsálí divadla je stále umístěno staré vodní čerpadlo. Poté jsme měli možnost si prohlédnout technické zázemí moderní hráze s hydroelektrárnou Seujet, která je hned vedle divadla a která reguluje hladinu ženevského jezera a dodává elektřinu pro město. Pak jsme si dali dobrý oběd v ženevany oblíbené restauraci the Café Remor, která je už po čtyři generace rodinným podnikem a je známá svou výbornou zmrzlinou z čerstvého ovoce.
We visited 19th century waterworks Batiment des Forces Motrices (BFM) which is placed in the city centre and which have been transformed into a theatre in 1997. The waterworks were inaugurated in 1896 to use the motivity of the Rhone river water in order to supply the surrounding workshops with power and later supply the city and canton with drinking water. There is still possible to see an old water pump in the main hall of the theatre. Then we visited the modern hydroelectrical Seujet dam which is just next door and regulates the level of the lake water as well as supply electricity. We had a nice lunch after that in Café Remor, a familly owned restaurant (the 4th generation already) popular among the genevians and famous for its great ice-cream from fresh fruits.
