Náš výlet začal u malé radnice v obci Avully, která leží kousek od Ženevy mezi vesnicemi Cartigny a Chancy. Komuna Avully zůstala typicky zemědělskou oblastí a leží v srdci ženevské Champagne. Má 1744 obyvatel, kteří se nazývají Avulioté. Po opravách místních komunikací v padesátých letech bylo mnoho starých rodinných domů renovováno a místní farmy byly modernizovány. My jsme navštívili rodinnou farmu Clauda Bieriho, který se do Avully přistěhoval s rodiči v roce 1944, kdy mu bylo 8 let. Měli jen pár krav a koně a vše dělali ručně. Dnes mají 100 krav na mléko a dalších 300 krav na maso a kůži a farma je čistá a moderně vybavená. Krmivo pro dobytek zajišťují pouze z vlastních polí a všechno nadojené mléko putuje do ženevské mlékárny. Přes léto mají pronajaté pastviny v horách, kde se krávy pasou až do podzimu. Bohužel jsme nemohli čerstvé mléko ochutnat, protože už bylo vyexpedováno.
Po prohlídce jsme se naobědvali v Café de Cartigny ve vesnici Cartigny a pak jsme se ještě jeli podívat do Carouge, kde ten den probíhal den mléka a mléčných produktů. Už jsme toho ale moc nestihli, stánkaři už balili. Tak aspoň šálek kávy:-)
Carouge je malé ženevské předměstí oddělené od města řekou Arve a a začalo se rozvíjet až po roce 1754, kdy bylo uděleno k užívání Království Sardinie. Tehdy byl plán městečka navržen turínskými architekty jako mozaika malých nízkých domků s verandami v zadních traktech kolem pomyslných os vyznačených alejemi stromů. Dodnes si Carouge zachovala svou středomořskou atmosféru a svými rušnými uličkami s malými náměstíčky, uměleckými krámky a kavárnami láká k procházkám.
We started our trip at the town hall of Avully, a village between villages Cartigny and Chancy. The commune of Avully remained typically agricultural and is really in the heart of the "Champagne genevoise". It has 1744 inhabitants who are called the "Avulliotes". After the improvements of the communications in mid 1950´, many old family houses have been renovated and farms modernised. We visited a family farm of Claude Bieri, who moved to Avully with his parents in 1944 in his age of 8. They had a few cows and horses and did their farm work manually. Nowadays the farm has 100 cows for milk and another 300 for meat and leather and farm is clean and modern. They have a feed from their own fields and all milk they get goes to Geneva dairy. Through summer they rent pastures in the mountains where cows stay until the autumn. Pity that we couldn´t taste a fresh milk as it was sent away already.
After the farm visit we had a lunch in next village at Café de Cartigny and then we went back to Geneva, to Carouge, as there was a day of milk and dairy products there. But we were late, they packed already. We enjoyed a cup of coffee at least:-)
Carouge is a small suburb of Geneva separated from the city by river Arve and was only to develop after 1754 when it was granted to the Kingdom of Sardinia. A city plan was designed by Turinese architects with a checkerboard arrangement around an axis planted with trees and low houses with galleries in the rear opening on gardens. Until today, Carouge has retained its Mediterranean-like atmosphere and invite one to stroll with its bustling streets, shaded squares and art boutiques.
