Díky své poloze v centru Evropy byla Ženeva odjakživa důležitou obchodní křižovatkou. Od r. 1888 existuje organizace Ports Francs et Entrepots de Geneve, kde je možno uložit zboží určené pro švýcarský trh v tranzitním prostoru, tzn. bez platby daně. Na ploše o rozloze 100 tis. m2 je uloženo všechno možné, od spotřebního zboží až po umělecká díla, historické předměty, šperky, víno, auta apod. Společnost disponuje bezpečnostními trezory i sklady s regulovatelnou teplotou a vlhkostí. Doba uložení není omezena. Zákazníky jsou velké společnosti i jednotlivci. Instituce, která není příliš v povědomí Ženevanů, poskytuje unikátní službu, která není běžná v jiných zemích a velmi dobře se přizpůsobuje změnám ve světové ekonomice.
Velmi zajímavé, bohužel jsem vzhledem k jejich regulacím nemohla udělat žádné fotky.
Thanks to its ideal geographical position in the centre of Europe, Geneva has always been an important trade crossroad. Since 1888, the Geneva Free Ports offer the possibility to stock products in transit or wharehouse goods destined for the Swiss market free of tax. In an area of more than 100 000 sqm, all sorts of products from consumer goods to artworks, historical articles, jewels, wine, cars etc. are stocked in security safes or storehouses where the temperature and humidity is possible to change. The storage duration is not limited. Both big companies and individuals are their customers. The establishment, unfamiliar to most of the Geneva population, represents a unique example of a service which has not been much developped elsewhere and which over time has adapted well to the changes in the world economy.
